Glyceryl Trinitrate (also known as GTN) helps relieve sudden attacks of angina (chest pain).

Recommendation:

The recommended dose is 0.5mg at every 3 minutes until therapeutic effect is obtained. I.V.: 5mcg/minute as infusion.

It is use for Angina pectoris, cardiac failure, cardiopulmonary oedema, long-term treatment of healed reflux oesophagitis, moderate to severe reflux oesophagitis, myocardial infarction, oesophageal spasm, oesophageal spasm, postoperative hypertension, prinzmetal's angina.

GTN cannot cure your chest pain; it can only temporarily relieve your discomfort. If your doctor has given you other heart medicines, make sure you take them as directed.

Precautions:

It is very important that you DO NOT take GTN with medicines used to treat impotence, such as sildenafil (Viagra®), tadalafil (Cialis®), vardenafil (Levitra®) and other similar medicines. Alert your doctor if you have a history of heart problems or brain injury.

Breastfeeding:

Contraindicated: The drug should not be used by breastfeeding women, as evidences from studies have shown that there is a high risk of causing significant damage to infants.
