Celecoxib (Celebrex) medicine helps in relieving pain, tenderness, swelling and stiffness that is cause by rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis and anklosing spondylitis. It is also used to treat juvenile rheumatoid arthritis in children of 2 years and older.
How Should Celebrex be Used?
Celecoxib (Celebrex) capsules can be taken by mouth once or twice a day. Follow the advice of your doctor whether you should take the medicine with or without food. If the dose of this medicine is below 200 mg, you can take it on an empty stomach. If children cannot swallow this capsule, it can be opened and mixed with applesauce. Take the medicine exactly as directed by your doctor.
What Should I do if I Forget a Dose?
A missed dose of Celecoxib (Celebrex) should be taken as soon as you remember it. Avoid taking the missed dose if it is already time for your next dose, but do not take a double dose of the medicine.
What Side Effects can Celebrex Cause?
The side effects of taking Celecoxib (Celebrex) may include diarrhea, sore throat, gas and cold symptoms. In severe condition the patient may experience loss of appetite, difficulty in breathing, tiredness, sudden weight gain, blisters, rashes and hives. Immediately contact your doctor if any severe side effect is experienced.
