Betahistine is an anti-vertigo agent, prescribed for dizziness (vertigo). It causes vasodilatation in inner ear. is an anti-vertigo agent, prescribed for dizziness (vertigo). It causes vasodilatation in inner ear.

Recommendation:.

The recommended dose 8-16mq. t.i.d. after meals.

Betahistine affects the throwing up (vomiting) center in the brain and Vertigo, Menieres syndrome. Orally active, some what selective H, analogue. Used to control vertigo in patients of MENIERE\'S disease. Possibly acts by causing vasodilatation in internal ear.

Precautions:

If you have an allergy to betahistine or any other part of this drug. Tell your doctor if you are allergic to any drugs. Make sure to tell about the allergy and what signs you had. This includes telling about rash; hives; itching; shortness of breath; wheezing; cough; swelling of face, lips, tongue, or throat; or any other signs. If you have any of these health problems: Pheochromocytoma or ulcer disease.

Breastfeeding:

Possibly unsafe: Evidence from studies in breastfeeding women show that there is a definite risk of side effects to the breastfed infants. However, use of the drug in breastfeeding women is acceptable in spite of the risk to the infants, if the drug is needed in a life-threatening situation or for a serious disease for which safer drugs cannot be used or are ineffective. Patients should follow the advice of the doctor regarding its use.
