Why Janumet Medication is Prescribed?

Janumet (Metformin) is used to treat type 2 diabetes. It is either used along or in combination with other medications, with insulin. It helps to control glucose levels in the blood and also decreases the amount of glucose taken from food and that made by the liver. Also, it increases the body’s response to insulin. But, Janumet (Metformin) does not help in the treatment of type 1 diabetes.

How Should Janumet be Used?

This medicine should be taken by mouth. It is available in the form of liquid, tablet as well as extended-release tablet. The liquid should be taken once or twice a day with meals. The tablet form should be taken with meals twice or thrice a day. And the extended-release tablet is taken with evening meal every day.

What Should I do if I Forget a Dose?

A missed dose should be taken as soon as you remember. But avoid double dosing if it is already time for your next dose. Skip the missed dose in this case.

What Side Effects can Janumet Cause?

The side-effects of taking this medicine include, indigestion, bloating, headache, metallic taste in the mount, muscle pain, chest pain, flushing of the skin and rash.
