Why Norvasc Medication is Prescribed?.

Norvasc (Amlodipine) is used in the treatment of high blood pressure and chest pain. It is used in along with other medicines for this treatment. The medicine helps in relaxing the blood vessels lowering blood pressure. It also increases blood supply to the heart to control chest pain.

How Should Norvasc be Used?

Take this medicine once a day by mouth. In order to remember, take the medicine around the same time daily. Also, take the medicine as advised by the doctor, and do not take more or less amount. It is not advisable to take this medicine more often that prescribed.

What Should I do if I Forget a Dose?

If you forget your dose, take the medicine at once when you remember. However, if it’s already time for your next dose, skip the missed dose. Never take a double dose of this medicine. .

What Side Effects can Norvasc Cause?

Taking Norvasc/Amlodipine has side effects such as:

  • Stomach pain and upset stomach
  • Headaches
  • Drowsiness
  • Swelling of hands, feet, ankles, or lower legs
  • Lightheadedness or dizziness
  • Flushing
  • Excessive tiredness
  • Some serious side effects are:
  • Fainting
  • More frequent or severe chest pain
  • Rapid, pounding, or irregular heartbeat
