Why Prevacid Medication is Prescribed?

In case of Zollinger-Ellison syndrome as well this medicine is used.

How Should Prevacid be Used?

Both prescription and nonprescription medicine, which is available in delayed-release capsule, should be taken orally and as a whole without splitting, breaking, chewing or crushing it.

What Should I do if I Forget a Dose?

A missed dose can be taken when you remember, but it should not be taken when the next scheduled dose time is close. It such case, avoid the missed dose.

What Side Effects can this medicine Cause?

There are mild to severe side effects of taking Prevacid (Lansoprazole) including, headache, constipation, hoarseness, difficulty in breathing, irregular heartbeat, muscle spasms, tiredness, seizures, or swelling of face, eyes, throat or tongue.


  • As precaution, tell your doctor about any drug allergy that you have. Also, inform your doctor if you are taking rilpivirine.

  • In case you take sucralfate, make sure to take the medicine at least after half an hour of taking Prevacid (Lansoprazole).

  • If you have or have ever had low level of magnesium in your blood or liver disease, tell your doctor beforehand.

  • Also inform the doctor if you have phenylketonuria.
